In the main event of «Golden Boxing II» tournament which was held on April 22nd at «Lokomotiv» Sports Palace in Ukrainian city of Kharkiv IBF Inter-Continental light welterweight champion Sergey «The Professor» Fedchenko (23-0, 11 KOs) retained his belt by KO win defeating Argentinean Diego Jesus «El Carnicero» Ponce (16-5-2, 2 KOs) in round 7.

Fedchenko simply crushed his opponent over seven one-sided rounds. The champ pressed Ponce from the very start, though the bout was rather slow-paced – the Argentinean did not show much desire to exchange. Fedchenko outworked his opponent in every single round. In round 4 the champion landed perfect left hooks to the body and powerful rights to the head of the contender, however, Ponce could survive the round.

After that the Argentinean became even more cautious and passive but in round 7 Fedchenko managed to catch him at the ropes and after several punches the last of which was a perfect left hook to the liver Diego Jesus Ponce took a knee and did not beat the count. That was the second Fedchenko’s defense of his IBF Inter-Continental light welterweight belt.

On the undercard Zaurbek Baysangurov made a successful comeback after TKO loss to Cornelius Bundrage last December. In Kharkiv Baysangurov fought Mikheil Khucishvili. The fighters spent in the ring only one round of more or less even exchanges a completely unexpected result of which was that Khucishvili remained sitting on his stool after round 1. Later Khucishvili explained that in one of the exchanges Baysangurov managed to land on him a good left hook to the liver after which Mikheil could not recover completely.

UNDERCARD RESULTS:

Artem Ayvazidi W(UD)6 Dmitry Bogachuk
Valentin Golovko W(UD)8 Oleg Tolochko
Andrey Rudenko TKO2 Igor Gorbenko
Victor Plotnikov W(UD)10 Alexander Benidze
