On April 10th in Donetsk Sportpalace «Druzhba» WBA welterweight champ Yuriy Nuzhnenko of Kyiv-based «K2 East Promotions» promotional company lost his belt after spectacular fight full of heated exchanges with his fellow-countryman another Ukrainian fighter Vyacheslav Senchenko of «Union Boxing Promotion» from Donetsk. After 12 action packed rounds all three judges gave unanimous nod to Senchenko.
It was the first Nuzhnenko’s loss after almost 9 years pro career. Although understandably Yuriy did not have a burning desire to talk much to the press he kindly agreed to give a brief comment to us.
«That was not the end of the life – I will continue training, I have to rehabilitate myself. No talk about retirement, of course. At first, I’ll take a short rest and then sit down with my team to make plans for the future; we’ll work out new plans for new title fights. I will continue training and analyze the fight with Senchenko – one learns from one's mistakes».
- If you had a chance to fight that fight once again what would you have changed in you boxing?
I would have started my pressure earlier.
- Were there any problems during your training period?
No, nothing at all – everything went smoothly.
- Any plans for rematch?
I’d like to get one.
