In an interesting post-fight press conference, two-division champ Paul “The Punisher” Williams says Winky Wright brought out his best, Wright gave Williams his due and stated that he’s not retiring, Williams’ promoter Dan Goossen commented that Williams will seek a matchup with WBA welterweight champ Shane Mosley, and heavyweight Chris Arreola, who was impressive in the co-feature, says just bring it on!

Paul Williams: “Winky brought out the best in me. He threw some good punches but I was determined. I seen him slowing down as I was getting stronger and stronger. Of course we would both have liked the knockout, but he wasn’t going anywhere and I wasn’t going anywhere. I was determined to outwork him either way it went. If it went six rounds, twelve or one round. I was determined to out work him the entire fight. That was my game plan.”

Dan Goossen (Williams’ promoter): “We’re going to go out there and see what’s there at 147. Paul said he wants to go back down to 147 and reclaim his titles. Shane Mosley is out there. We certainly would love to have that fight. At 154 (we’d fight) any champion. Maybe Bernard (Hopkins) wants to come down to 160. Whatever it is, you’re going to see the best pound-for-pound fighter in that ring very soon again.”

Winky Wright: “I knew he was going to throw a lot of punches, but I didn’t know he was going to throw that many. I can’t take anything away from him. I felt good. He was just so long! I figured that he was long but he was looooong. Paul is the type of fighter nobody wants to fight and I can tell why now. He throws a million punches, has long arms and he’s a smart fighter. I definitely want to say that this is definitely (not my last fight). I had 21 months off and now its time to get back into the ring and fight a little more often.”

Chris Arreola: “I’m here to fight. I’m here to win. I’m not here to talk about who I’m going to fight. I’m done with that. I’m here to fight. Whoever they say (to fight), f*ck it let’s go! I’m going to be the Mexican Jack Johnson, I’ll make sure of that. I want to make everybody proud. Not just my Mexican people, but all of my American fans.”
