At the Civic Center in Pensacola, Florida, Roy Jones Jr. (53-5, 39KOs) stopped Omar Sheika (27-9, 18KOs) in a five round mismatch.

Sheika came out swinging, pushing Jones to the ropes and letting his hands go for a few seconds. Jones came back a few minutes later and shook Sheika with a left hook. Jones' quick hands began to take over as the round played out. Several lefts and uppercuts began to tag Sheika, which staggered him a few times when he took the punches.

Sheika once again pressed Jones against the ropes. Jones fought his way off with shots to the head and body. Jones' quick hands were was hitting Sheika from every direction. Sheika was able to land some punches in the third. They did little to no damage. Near the end of the third, a right hand once again shook the knees of Sheika. In the fourth, Jones landed almost every punch he threw. At one point Jones must have landed at least 15 jabs in a row.

During the fifth, Jones began to land left hook after left hook. Sheika had almost no defense and ate everything. A cut opened up from on Sheika's nose. Jones was landing and landing until the ref stopped the fight.

It was barely a contest. Sheika had nothing in the tank. He was there to be hit and Jones unloaded every punch he could. It was a miracle the fight lasted for five rounds.
