In a non-title light heavyweight shocker, 43-year-old former middleweight champion and ring legend Bernard Hopkins (49-5-1, 32 KOs) stunned previously unbeaten, current WBC/WBO world middleweight champion, and 4:1 betting favorite Kelly Pavlick (34-1, 30 KOs) taking a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision on Saturday night before 11,332 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Hopkins looked like the younger fighter as he consistently beat the 26-year-old Pavlik to the punch. Pavlik never got into a rhythm as Hopkins punished him the entire way. Scores were 119-106, 118-108, 117-109. Since the contract weight was 170 lbs., Pavlik remains WBC/WBO middleweight champion.

After Hopkins, Pavlik Targets Calzaghe. Abraham Out?

If all goes as planned against Bernard Hopkins on October 18, WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik will target Joe Calzaghe, who recently made it known that he will continue his career [beyond the September 20th bout with Roy Jones Jr.] to pursue a possible fight with Pavlik. “If I beat Jones, I might move back down to super middleweight to face Kelly Pavlik.
