In a grudge match and light heavyweight super fight, unbeaten Chad Dawson (27-0, 17 KOs) dethroned Antonio Tarver (27-5, 19 KOs) via twelve round unanimous decision in a clash for Tarver's IBF/IBO light heavyweight championship at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Tarver was uncharacteristically aggressive, but Dawson was faster and more powerful as he dropped Tarver in round twelve and went onto a 118-109, 117-110, 117-110 win.
