British lightweight Jon Thaxton (34-8, 19 KOs) claimed the vacant European 135lb belt with a third-round knockout against Juan Carlos Diaz Melero (36-2, 19 KOs) at the Norwich Showground in Norwich, England. A big right hand ended the bout.

Earlier, WBC #5 cruiserweight Herbie Hide (45-4, 42 KOs), who has recently recloated back to the UK from Germany, stopped journeyman Aleksejs Kosobokovs (12-10) in round three of his first bout on British soil since 2004. Hide's WBC International belt was not at stake.
