Martinez wins WBC interim belt!

In a bout for the WBC interim super welterweight championship, Sergio Martinez (44-1-1, 24 KOs) totally outclassed Alex Bunema (30-6-2, 16 KOs) on Saturday night at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California. Martinez was in command from the opening bell and the one-sided bout was finally stopped at the end of the eighth round.

World rated featherweight Yuriorkis Gamboa (12-0, 10 KOs) recovered from a first round knockdown to knock out previously unbeaten Marcos Ramirez (25-1, 16 KOs) in round two. Gamboa was floored by an elbow in round one, but unleashed a ferocious attack in round two to drop Ramirez twice in the second. Time was 1:41.

In a brutal fight, unbeaten super welterweight Alfredo Angulo (14-0, 10 KOs) outgunned the extremely tough Andrey Tsurkan (26-4, 17 KOs), but the game Tsurkan fought hard until his corner threw in the towel late in round ten. Time was 2:27.
