Team Sauerland have laughed off complaints from promoter Lou DiBella, who called Alexander Povetkin's fourth round KO over Taurus Sykes a “disgrace to boxing”. DiBella insisted a meeting with his fighter Israel Garcia would have promised far more excitement but fell through due to monetary reasons. “Those claims are absolutely ridiculous,” Sauerland managing director Chris Meyer said. “First of all, you have to give Alexander Povetkin credit for stepping into the ring even though he had already secured the right to fight Wladimir Klitschko. He had little to win but a lot to lose. Yet he accepted the challenge. We picked the best opponent available for this fight, and we are not at all interested in Israel Garcia. Why should we – he lost to Sykes a couple of years ago. We are pleased that Povetkin continued his path to glory with another KO victory and we are very much looking forward to the fight against Klitschko.”
