WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (34-0, 30 KOs) stemmed the tide of losses of other world champions on the day, by crushing WBO mandatory challenger Gary Lockett (28-2, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Pavlik twice battered Lockett to a knee in a one-sided round two, then put him on the deck again in the third before Lockett's corner threw in the towel. Time was 1:40.
Unbeaten junior featherweight Juan Manuel Lopez (22-0, 20 KOs) is a world champion after destroying reigning WBO champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (34-2, 30 KOs) in just 2:25 of round one. "Juanma" floored Ponce De Leon twice with brutal barrages and the bout was waved off by referee Michael Ortega.
