May 17th, Ukraine, Kharkiv, Sportpalace “Lokomotiv”.

Kharkiv native Sergey Fedchenko (21-0, 9 KO) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Peter Semo (18-1, 13 KO) and thus captured IBF Inter-Continental light welterweight belt. Scores were 115-113, 114-112 and 120-108. It is worth noting that the latter reflects the action in the ring most adequately. Fedchenko intentionally worked as number two in the ring but at the same time he was faster, more accurate and his footwork was better than his rival’s. Sergey boldly won the large majority of fight episodes. In round 3 Fedchenko rocked Semo with perfect left hook.

UNDERCARD RESULTS

In a clash of two undefeated heavyweights Alexander Ustinov (10-0, 8 KO) won an eight round unanimous decision over another previously unbeaten fighter Rudolf Abramyan (11-1, 10 KO). The fight appeared to be not an easy one for Belarus giant Ustinov and went the distance. Ustinov worked from the outside effectively using his jab, long left hooks and helping with his right hand from time to time. His body shots were also accurate.

K2 East-promoted Georgian native European EBA champion Avtandil Khurtsidze (15-1-2, 10 KO) defeated Hungarian journeyman Ferenc Olah (8-10-1, 1 KO) by technical knockout in a non-title bout. Khurtsidze as usually started very aggressively and very soon before the end of the first round his rival was floored but was able to continue. Unintentional head-butt caused a cut over Georgian’s left eye. In the second round Olah again was floored after flurry of punches. He tried to continue but had a severe cut opened which prompted referee to stop the fight thus giving the victory by TKO to Avtandil Khurtsidze.
