This Saturday night K2 East Promotions will stage a nice-packed local show at “Lokomotiv” Sports Palace in Kharkov, Ukraine, which will feature a number of top Ukrainian prospects. If no force majeure hopefully occurs in next few days, Kharkov boxing card will be the fourth one to be staged by K2 East in 2008.

In the main event, Khar’kov proud native Sergey Fedchenko (20-0, 9 KOs) is penciled to make a considerable leap up in class by taking on Sweden-based Ugandan Peter Semo in an IBF intercontinental light welterweight competition. Fedchenko, 27, will certainly find himself in deep waters against his most accomplished opponent to date. Semo (18-1, 13 KOs), 25, suffered his lone loss on points to Italian Giorgio Marinelli last Nivember but came back strong in January, stopping another Italian Fedele Bellusci to acquire his belt.

“No doubt this match-up will become career-toughest for Sergey”, said K2 East CEO Alexnader Krasuk. “Peter Semo is a dangerous foe and the IBF intercontinental title is a prestigious belt. By winning this bout Fedchenko will be one step closer to his ultimate dream of becoming new champion of the world”.

K2 East-promoted Georgian native Avtandil Khurtsidze (14-1-2, 10 KOs) will face not-so-easy TBA in supportive ten-rounder. Also ten rounds is scheduled for the clash between unbeaten Ukrainian cruiser Vitaly Rusal (19-0, 13 KOs) and his Georgian rival Armen Azizian (8-5, 1 KO). In possibly hottest contest of the fight night former K1 standout Alexander Ustinov (9-0, 8 KOs) of Belarus will try his skills against fellow unbeaten Russian-based Georgian heavyweight Rudolf Abramyan (11-0, 10 KOs) over eight.

2004 Athens Olympics silver medalist in light heavyweight division Magomed Aripgadzhiev (11-2, 7 KOs) extended his winning streak once again by totally outclassing and shouting out Ukrainian Vasyl Kondor (17-6, 5 KOs) last Saturday at Palace of sports in Minsk. This is Aripgadzhiev’s sixth consecutive victory and Kondor’s first loss after, ironically, six wins in a row. All three judges had identical scores at the end: 120-108 for Aripgadziev, who added the vacant EBU-EU title to his resume. Magomed suffered two setbacks in recent years by loosing to Polish Aleksy Kuziemski and Artiom Vychkin but is slowly getting up since then.
