IBO light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver (27-4, 19 KOs) claimed the IBF title held by Clinton Woods (41-4-1, 25 KOs) with a one-sided unanimous decision on Saturday night at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. There was little drama in the bout as Tarver systematically outpointed Woods, but never came close to stopping him. Woods' performance was disappointing as he never got untracked and rarely was in position to inflict damage. Scores were 116-112, 117-111, 119-109.

In contrast, the co-featured title fight was a war as unbeaten WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (26-0, 17 KOs) won a controversial twelve round unanimous decision over former world titleholder Glen Johnson (47-12-2, 32 KOs). The 39-year-old Johnson nearly dropped Dawson in rounds three and ten, and closed the fight strong, however each of the judges awarded Dawson with a surprising 116-112 decision, each giving Johnson only four rounds.
