Promoters Lou DiBella and Joe DeGuardia have announced they are teaming up with Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum and Top Rank, to promote the latest installment of "Punchin' at The Paradise."

The Thursday, December 6 card features Andrey Tsurkan (25-2, 16 KO's) of Bronxville, N.Y., against Yuri Foreman (23-0, 8 KO's) of Brooklyn, N.Y. Tsurkan will be defending his NABF Jr. Middleweight Title, in a match that will debut the nationally televised, "Friday Night Live" on VERSUS Network.

The announcement for the event was held at Hurley's watering hole in Times Square on Wednesday, November 28.

Speaking of the unusual alliance, DiBella stated, "To have three promoters working on an event together in this world of boxing is fairly unusual, but I think you'll see more quality events."

DiBella continued, "What this sport needs is more of us to get on the same page and create events together, in the spirit of cooperation."

DeGuardia pointed out that the main event not only creates an ethnic rivalry, as Tsurkan comes from the Ukraine and Foreman comes from Belarus, but becomes a "Battle of New York," as Tsurkan resides in Westchester County and Foreman in Brooklyn, N.Y.

DeGuardia said the match-up "...possibly is the biggest junior middleweight match-up in the world." DeGuardia added, "The winner of this fight goes on, probably to fight for a championship of the world within six-months."

DiBella then stated he believed the winner of Tsurkan - Foreman, "Not only does he get a shot at a title, I think he has an excellent chance to win a world title."

As the two fighters stood toe-to-toe, Foreman stood up on his tippy-toes, getting a laugh from the crowd as he looked down on Tsurkan. Tsurkan responded, "It's not going to help."

New York State Athletic Commissioner Ron Scott Stevens, who announced New York held 37 shows in 2007, stated, "To say boxing is alive and well is just not true, but we're moving toward making it better."

game plan Tsurkan offered, "I know what I have to do in my mind, but I don't want to talk about it."

Foreman said of Tsurkan, "I've seen him fight before and he's up and coming but we'll see..."

The evening's co-feature is another 10-round junior middleweight match-up between Sergio Martinez (40-1-1, 21 KO's) of Argentina, who will battle Ossie Duran (23-6-1, 9 KO's) of Ghana.

Others appearing at the Utopia Paradise Theatre include DiBella's rebounding Edgar "El Chamaco" Santana (21-3, 13 KO's) of Spanish Harlem, Star Boxing's hot prospect Ray Robinson of Philadelphia and the pro debut of New Jersey heavyweight and amateur sensation Joe Hanks.

DiBella added, "I applaud Bob for giving this opportunity to do this with him and I think it's a terrific, terrific show."

The three promoters have also announced that hundreds of tickets will be distributed to local community organizations including Chabad-Lubavitch of Riverdale, the Castle Hill Little League and the Albert Einstein Medical College Jewish Student Association.

Arum issued a statement that read, "I'm a New Yorker. I grew up there and the Bronx means a lot to me. We have a wonderful boxing event on December 6 and I want everyone to be able to come and enjoy during this special time of year."
