Britain's David Haye won the WBA and WBC cruiserweight titles in dramatic fashion by knocking out French champion Jean-Marc Mormeck in the seventh round in Paris. Haye was dropped in the fourth round and looked on the verge of defeat before recovering to pull off an amazing victory. After hurting Mormeck at the end of the sixth, Haye landed a right uppercut followed by a left hook, then another right, to send Mormeck down. The early rounds did not produce the fireworks predicted, with Mormeck unfazed by Haye's early shots. Mormeck dominated up close and put Haye down with a right hander at the start of the fourth. Haye looked unsteady but survived the round. Afterwards, Haye said his victory was the culmination of 17 weeks training in Cyprus. He said he now wanted to move up to the heavyweight division and seek another world title.
