The former IBF/WBO champion was the first man in the ring. Instructed by father and coach Joe, Byrd proved his mobility and speed. "I am in great shape," he vowed. "Iґve been through so many twelve-round fights in my career. My experience will help me." While Byrd has won 40 of his 44 fights (21 KOs), Povetkin is unbeaten in 13 bouts (10 KOs). Once again, the 28-year-old remained tight-lipped prior to a fight, suggesting he will let his fists do the talking in the ring. "My training has been geared towards a world title fight for over a year," he said. "I am determined to take the first step." The winner of Saturdayґs encounter will just be one victory away from challenging IBF supremo Wladimir Klitschko.
