WBC interim heavyweight champion Samuel Peter outpointed challenger Jameel McCline despite being knocked down three times. How did he do it? A look at the official scoring shows judge Billy Costello (115-110) gave every round to Peter with the exception of rounds two and three. Judge Julie Lederman (113-112) was the most friendly to McCline as Peter barely pulled out a one-point nod by sweeping the last four rounds. Judge Steve Weisfeld (115-111) gave McCline only rounds two, three and six. All three judges credited McCline with a 10-7 round for round three, however for round two Weisfeld gave McCline only a 10-9 round despite the knockdown, while Costello and Lederman scored it 10-8. Ironically, Peter suffered his only pro defeat against Wladimir Klitschko in a bout where HE scored three knockdowns but came up short on the judges' cards. Below is the actual NYSAC Peter-McCline master scorecard.
