David Tua Already Plans Two Bouts in Two Months

27 Aug 2007 11:07       hits 18942 Print version

Heavyweight contender David "Tuaman" Tua (48-3-1, 41KOs) is already planning to fight again on September 7 in Michigan, and has another fight set for the month of October.

Tua recently stopped Saul Montana in one round on August 18 in Utah, and appeared to be in spectacular shape.

Tua's trainer Roger Bloodworth told the Fairfax New Zealand Limited that he plans to keep his fighter busy in order to secure a future title shot in the next six months. He feels that most of the current crop of heavyweights size up well to Tua, which gives him a shot at beating any of them.

"We're going to keep David real busy," Bloodworth said. "There will be a lot of focus from the critics on the opponents but the important thing right now is to keep David active. He needs to get used to that feeling of walking to the ring, taking care of business and preparing for the next fight. The era of the tall heavyweight champion is coming to a close"

"Apart from Wladimir Klitschko none of the champions we have in our sights are particularly big guys. The winner of the WBC heavyweight title fight between Samuel Peter and Oleg Maskaev are good-sized opponents for David. And Sultan Ibragimov and Evander Holyfield - who fight for the WBO title in October aren't giants."

"If David had a shot at any of those guys tomorrow I'd feel good about his chances."
