Midway through their WBC lightweight championship bout on Saturday night at the Allstate Arena outside Chicago, three-division world champion Erik Morales seemed headed his fourth world title in a fourth division. After six rounds, Morales was comfortably ahead on the cards of judges Hermino Cuevas (58-55), Nobuaki Uratami (58-55), and Robert Hecko (59-55). From that point on, however, the judges were not kind to 'El Terrible.' Uratami and Hecko scored ALL SIX of the remaining rounds for defending champion David Diaz, while Cuevas awarded Diaz five of the six final rounds. Cuevas and Hecko also gave Morales only a 10-9 round in round one despite Morales scoring a clean knockdown, and Cuevas gave Diaz a 10-8 round in round two, without scoring an official knockdown. Scores were 114-113 (Cuevas), 115-113 (Hecko) and 115-112 (Urutami). Below is the official master scorecard
