M'Baye, Kotelnik ends in draw!

WBA super lightweight champion Souleymane M'Baye (35-1-1, 20 KOs) narrowly retained his title with a controversial draw against mandatory challenger Andreas Kotelnik (27-2-1, 12 KOs) on Saturday night at the Liverpool Olympia in Liverpool, England. Kotelnik was ahead 117-112 on one card, M'Baye prevailed 115-114 on the second card and the third card was 114-114. All three judges were British. Many boos were heard in the 1,800 seat venue when the decision was announced as Kotelnik had pressed the action and closed the fight strongly. M'Baye has previously gotten by Kotelnik via split decision in October 2004

Universum Box-Promotion will file an immediate protest over the result of Saturday's highly controversial WBA super lightweight title fight between WBA champion Souleyman M'Baye and mandatory challenger Andreas Kotelnik in Liverpool.
