Alejandro Berrio (26-4, 25 KOs) scored a sensational third round TKO over previously unbeaten Robert Stieglitz (29-1, 19 KOs) to win the vacant IBF super middleweight title on Saturday in Rostock, Germany. Stieglitz had a good round one landing about a half dozen power shots against Berrio. The quicker Stieglitz continued to outbox the heavy-handed Berrio in round two, but midway through round three, Berrio floored Stieglitz twice with crushing right hands. Stieglitz beat the count both times, but was offering no offense in return and referee Remigio Ruggeri waved it off at 2:37 of the third round. With the win, Berrio dramatically avenged a 2005 TKO stoppage loss to Stieglitz and claimed the belt previously held by Joe Calzaghe.
