A vocal crowd was in attendance for the post-fight press conference that followed Jermain Taylor's unanimous decision victory over Kassim "The Dream" Ouma.

Yes, the word “rematch” did arise during the conference and Ouma was the first to speak on the subject.

"I'll predict to knock him out,” said the challenger.

“If I get a rematch I predict to knock him out right here on the rug."

The subject was brought up again later when Ouma, away from the stage and in the press area, raised his hand and said to Taylor, “J.T., I have a question . . . Can I get a rematch?"

Indirectly, Taylor answered with, “Whatever. I love the game, I love good fights."

Promoter Lou DiBella, however, did not think a rematch was called for.

“Jermain has fought through some adversities,” said DiBella. “He fought through a cut and I clearly think he won the fight. So, I don't think a rematch is on right now . . .

“But pros to Kassim Ouma. I think he is a great fighter and think he is going to be champion at 154 pounds.”

Relating to the fight, Ouma said he was unfazed by Taylor’s power.

“My grandmother hits harder than him,” he said at the podium, drawing jeers from those in attendance.

Taylor, wearing a toboggan cap and sunglasses, gave Ouma his props.

“He's a tough opponent,” Taylor admitted. “He came to fight. I'll give it to him."

When some in the audience continued to speak at the same time as Taylor, Ouma exuded class, telling them to “be nice, he is the champion."

Taylor went on:

“I was throwing wild punches. I was trying to knock him out in the first round but he is a tough fighter. He came to fight and I give him all the respect."

"I came in there looking for a knockout and in boxing you are not supposed to come looking for a knockout. A knockout will come. I went in and tried to force it, throwing a lot of wild punches. He's a great fighter. He ain't never been knockout in his career.”

Pertaining the cut he suffered in the fight, reportedly from a clash of heads, Taylor said, "It seems like heads always meets up with me. Every fight I get, I get something. But I feel like it comes along with the job. I take it as it comes."

Taylor admitted that the cut affected him to some degree but he fought through it because, in his own words, "I'm a soldier, baby."

In the fight, Taylor spent a great portion of the fight moving backwards. He says this was his game plan.

“I feel like I did make him fight my fight. I knew he was going to throw a lot of punches, I was just going to let him do his thing and then I was going to come on later in the round and try to get him to tire out. I never did. He was in great shape. He came to fight. I give him all the respect.”

Trainer Emmanuel Stewart took his turn at the podium, saying "Ouma fought better then I have ever seen him fight and his body was tighter than I had ever seen it."

Taylor spoke of his plans to stay at 160 rather than move up to super middleweight.

"I'm comfortable at 160. I make 160 easy.

As for a next opponent?

"Whoever wants to fight me. I ain't backed down from nobody. Whoever wants to fight, come on."

Ouma said he will continue his dream and said he was willing to fight anyone from 147 to 160, throwing out names like Mayweather and De La Hoya.
