Heavyweight contender Oleg Maskaev said today that he is "extremely ready" for his fight August 12 pay-per-view title challenge against WBC heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman. "I will put up a good fight and the best will win," he promised. Maskaev, who was born in Kazakhstan, also stated that he takes exception to the billing of this fight as "America's Last Line of Defense."
Maskaev, a naturalized U.S. citizen, stated "whoever wins is going to be American.....I'm a proud Russian-American. I'm a citizen of the United States." Oleg also added this his youngest daughter was born in America. "I'm very happy to be here and this is part of the American dream."
