UFC American lightweight Beneil Dariush shared his thoughts on the organization of the title fight between the division's champion Islam Makhachev and former interim belt holder Dustin Puryear.
Earlier it became known that the Dagestani and the American will meet in the main event of UFC 302, which will take place on June 1 in Newark, USA.
"I would say that Mateusz Gamrot should be closer to the titleholder. Gamrot has been fighting top guys for a long time, I've dealt him his only meaningful defeat. So Gamrot is more deserving of a title shot. However, overall I'm not against the Porier - Makhachev fight. There are no more suitable options for a fight for the belt right now," said Dariusz in an interview with Submission Radio.

"It will be a good fight. Of course, Puryear is going to have a very tough time. He has the power to catch Islam and knock him out, but ... Let's put it this way - Dustin will definitely not be the favorite. The odds will not be in his favor.
Porier must understand - Makhachev won't act like Saint-Denis. If it comes down to a fight, things will be completely different. I wouldn't advise Puryear to bet on submissions. But Dustin is a legend. He knows better how to fight to win," Dariush said in an interview with Submission Radio.
Michael Bisping, former UFC champion and current commentator and analyst, called out the mistake that cost Justin Gaethje a win in his fight with Max Holloway.
"I think Gaethje was a victim of his own success. When he knocked out Dustin Porier, he believed in his own invincibility. He probably thought he would run over Holloway without too much trouble. But Gaethje bet on the knockout - he was looking for the right moment the whole fight. That's not the way to do it. When you're chasing a knockout, you can see your punches and intentions better. He put 100% into every punch. He didn't use his combinations wisely. Sometimes he threw hooks, plus he used leg kicks. Other than that, he was predictable. So Max Holloway taught him a valuable lesson. On the other hand, even without this fight, he could have qualified for a fight against Islam Makhachev. He was supposed to go for a title shot and now it's all gone," TNT Sports quoted Bisping as saying.
Michael Chandler, UFC lightweight division fighter, revealed in which division limit he will fight Conor McGregor, the former champion of the promotion in two weight categories.
"I think my performance is going to be phenomenal. I'm still going to have the exact same camp. I'm still going to go down to 70 pounds the same way, only I'm not going to dehydrate myself at the end. I want to stay big, strong, explosive.
