Three-time WBC super middleweight champion Markus Beyer (34-2-1) of Germany could travel to Denmark on October 14th to face the unbeaten WBA titlelist Mikkel Kessler (37-0) at the Brøndby Hallen in Copenhagen. Beyer, coming off a technical draw against Sakio Bika, hopes to get a dominant victory over the unbeaten Kessler, who wants to add another belt to his collection and continue to clean up the division. "Boom Boom" Beyer, at 35 is eight years older than Kessler, and would be making the fifth defense of his title. Kessler would be making his third defense. The winner could be in line for a mega-fight against Joe Calzaghe, who will most likely return to the ring in September against an opponent to be named. Before the deal can be finalized, the promoters of both fighters, Team Palle for Kessler and Sauerland Event for Beyer, have to make an arrangement with mandatory challengers Librado Andrade (Beyer) and Anthony Mundine (Kessler) but both promoters are confident that Andrade and Mundine will allow the unification showdown to happen.
