Michele Piccirillo W12 Lukas Konecny... At 36 years of age, Michele Piccirillo of Italy has captured the European junior middleweight championship, overcoming a second-round knockdown to defeat Lukas Konecny by scores of 115-112, 116 -110 and 117-110. The respected Italian website mondoboxe.com thought their countryman won with a late rally, but by a narrower margin than the official scorecards indicated. Its quite an accomplishment for Piccirillo, who followed in the footsteps of Stefano Zoff by wining a European championship in what should be the twilight of his career. He is now 45-3, compared to 29-2 for the 27-year old Konecny. The European title became vacant when Sergei Dzindrzuk claimed the WBO version of the world title

Tarver KOs Santiago!

Mayorga wins WBC junior middleweight title on points

WBC elevates Vargas-Castillejo!

The WBC Board of Governors has approved the fight between Fernando Vargas and Francisco Javier Castillejo, which will take place on August 20, as a final eliminator to determine the official challenger for the WBC's super welterweight title. Mayorga to Return!

Former welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga will return to the ring July 23rd in New York City at Madison Square Garden when he takes on WBC Junior Middleweight title-holder Javier Castillejo it was learned today.
