IBF flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan's advantage in punching power propelled him to a eighth round TKO over Diosdado Gabi Friday night at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, Calif. The unbeaten Darchinyan (25-0, 20 KOs) dropped Gabi (26-3-1, 19 KOs) with a crushing left hand and although the glassy-eyed Gabi barely got to his feet, the bout was stopped by referee David Mendoza.
