According to reports in the media IBF/WBA light-welterweight king Ricky Hatton is to step up a division and challenge WBC welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir at the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut on May 13.
There are also rumours that the undefeated 27 year-old could face either IBF mandatory Naoufel Ben Rabah or big punching Brazilian Acelino Freitas. However, it appears that the Argentine tough guy Baldomir is the favoured choice.
Promoters Fight Academy have organised a press conference aboard the HMS Belfast on Thursday(Feb 9) where Ricky Hatton will unveil his battle plans for 2006.
