The list of names that have held portions of the 154lb titles since 2003 have included luminaries like Oscar De La Hoya, Sugar Shane Mosley and Ronald Winky Wright, but a name who hasn't gotten a lot of ink is current two-time WBA super welterweight champion Alejandro "Terra" Garcia.

An explosive fighter with 24 knockouts in his 25 victories, Garcia won his title the first time back in 2003 when he kayoed Santiago Samaniego. In his second defense, Garcia lost his title by kayo to unbeaten Travis Sims. Sims was later stripped of the title and Garcia regained the belt with a ninth round repeat knockout of Roshi Wells who had knocked out in a previous encounter in ten.

Garcia spoke with Fightnews.com about his planned unification fight with IBF junior middleweight champion Roman Karmazin (34-1-1, 21 KOs), his goal of unifying all the titles, and the possibility of fighting the winner of the Ricardo Mayorga vs. Oscar De La Hoya clash in the future.

You have a fight scheduled with Roman Karmazin in April. What's your take on him?

I've only seen one tape on him. I could tell right way that he is very skilled and strong. He is also tall, as well.

How do you plan on fighting him?

The plan for sure going to be to work his body and try to break him down that way.

How hard was it for you to get past your only career loss to Travis Sims?

I tried to get a rematch with him but it never materialized.

Is it still important for you to get a rematch with him now?

Actually not anymore. I've regained the title and I haven't heard anything about him in a while and I'm getting on with my career.

I know you had told me in a previous interview that you had wanted to fight Fernando Vargas. Were you disappointed when he opted to fight Sugar Shane Mosley?

We had offered the fight to the Vargas camp but they decided to fight Mosley. My promoter Don King has an offer out to the winner to fight me.

Well at least you get a chance to try achieve your goal of unifying all the belts at 154. Thats got to be some consolation for you right?

Yeah it is. It's very important for me to unify all the titles and with Don King promoting all the champions at 154, the chances are really good for me.

Mayorga and De La Hoya are scheduled to fight in May. Any chances of you fighting the winner if you're successful in your fight?

The chances are really good. Especially if Mayorga is the winner since he's with Don King as well, but if De La Hoya were to win that would be a huge fight for my career if it could be made. Not only would I have chance to unify all the titles but I could do it by beating Oscar De La Hoya which would be a major victory.
