"Left Hook" does it with overhand right

Jeff Lacy destroyed Scott Pemberton to retain his the IBF super middleweight title. Lacy was supposed to determine a true 168-pound world champion tonight but his WBO counterpart, Joe Calzaghe, pulled out, claiming an injury. Instead, Lacy had to content himself with defeating Pemberton, although he is still looking for Calzaghe. Based on Calzaghe's choice of opponents thoughout his carreer, it seems as though he is unwilling to risk defeat, and after Lacy's dominant performance tonight, Calzaghe is probably even more unwilling. Lacy got to Pemberton from the opening round and put him down with an overhand right in round two. After that, Lacy followed with more huge punches and put him down for the second time in the round with a monster overhand right. Pemberton landed on the canvas and then bounced after taking the punch. The referee stopped the bout without a ten count. Pemberton at first claimed he could have gotten up, but then, citing the late Leavander Johnson, Pemberton said he respected the referee's judgment in stopping the bout immediately. Lacy, still improving as a boxer, moves up to 21-0 with 17 KOs. Pemberton falls to 29-4-1 24 KOs, and with his 39th birthday rapidly approaching, perhaps he should spend more time with his wife and less time taking punches.
