Thailand's champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (R) lands a punch in the face of Japanese challenger Daisuke Naito during their World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight title bout
A punch from Pongsaklek in the second round left a cut just above the right eye of Naito, whose bleeding caused the fight to end at 2 minutes, 38 seconds of the seventh.
Pongsaklek improved to 58-2 with 31 knockouts. Naito dropped to 27-2-2 with 19 knockouts. Pongsaklek won the title in March 2001. His last defense was in January of this year.
The last time the two boxers met, Naito was knocked out by the Thai champion after just 34 seconds of the first round in April 2002. It was the quickest a Japanese boxer has ever lost by knockout in a world title fight.
