Beyer defeats Sheika! Urkal keeps Euro welter belt

WBC super middleweight champion Markus Beyer has just pounded out a unanimous decision over Omar Sheika to retain his world 168lb title at the Internationalen Congress Centrum in Berlin. Beyer (33-2), took control in the first round, not allowing Sheika (26-8) to get off to his normal fast start. Beyer rocked Sheika in round eight, but couldn't finish him off, instead cruising to a 118-110, 116-112, 116-112 win.

In the co-feature, European welterweight champion Oktay Urkal (36-3)retained his title by unanimous decision over Maxim Nesterenko (44-8-2). Urkal was knocked down in round eleven, but held on for a 114-113, 115-112, 116-111 win. Attendance was 3500.
