In a battle of ex-cruiserweight champs now campaigning as heavyweights, Orlin Norris' overhand rights carried the last round and earned him a majority draw with Vassiliy Jirov. The official scores were 78-72 Jirov and 74-74 twice. Norris, now 57-9-1, was coming off a loss to unknown Albert Sosnowski, so the draw will extend his career as auseful opponent. For Jirov, however, the verdict put a serious dent in his status as a heavyweight fringe contender. He was rated #38 by Boxingtalk coming in, and his record is now 35-3-1. he may want to consider dropping down to cruiserweight, especially since the weight limit was increased to 200 since Jirov left the division.
