Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions officially announced today that Marco Antonio Barrera will face Robbie Peden on Saturday, September 17, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It was also announced that Barrera has been promoted within Golden Boy to become the president of Golden Boy Mexico, the branch of the company that will discover and harvest promising fighters from Mexico.

Golden Boy also revealed that the promotional company has signed former world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley, making him the director of fighter relations. Mosley's job within the promotional giant will be helping out the amateur program within the sport of boxing as well as helping to discover young talent before they become seasoned professionals. At the same time, Mosley is scheduled to face Jose Luis Cruz on the undercard of Barrera/Peden. Golden Boy Promotions will sending out press releases in the next few weeks revealing the rest of the undercard for the HBO Pay Per View event, one that De La Hoya insists will be spectacular.

"I am very proud to be fighting on September 17 for Golden Boy and I am glad to be fighting someone like Robbie Peden," Barrera said. "I know Peden is a tough fighter and he has a lot of heart. I expect him to be as ready as I will be."

"Robbie Peden is one of those guys who is always ready to fight," De La Hoya continued. "He proved that his knockout win over Nate Campbell was not a fluke because he went back out and knocked him out in the rematch. He is very tough and even though he may not be well-known to many boxing fans, those types of fighters are most dangerous. This is a very dangerous fight for Marco and it should be great. I am thrilled to announce that Barrera will be fighting Peden."

Peden, showing much respect for his soon-to-be adversary within the squared circle, was nothing but respectful and honest when speaking about Barrera. After greeting and hugging "The Baby Faced Assassin," Peden briefly gave his opinions and feelings on the fight and what the fans should expect come September 17.

"It is great to be up here with so many great warriors," Peden glowed from the dais. "Shane, Oscar, Marco Antonio. I watched these guys when I was a kid and now I am going to be fighting one of them. Marco Antonio Barrera is a great fighter and I know it'll be a war. People who know boxing know what I bring to the table and they know I come to fight. It's no secret or suprise what I do and I expect it to be a great war. Fans will not be disappointed, believe me. I thank Marco for allowing me to fight him."
