Vitali Tsypko scored a close twelve round split decision over Brian Magee to claim the vacant European super middleweight belt. Scores were 115-113 and 115-114 for Tsypko, 115-114 for Magee. The bout was also an IBF eliminator.

Danish supermiddle Rudy Markussen (29-1; 17KOs) will not stay unemployed for long after vacating his European crown and withdrawing from a scheduled clash against Vitali Tsypko in Germany. The WBO #1 ranked Markussen will see action as early as April 15 at the KB-Hallen in Copenhagen, Denmark, in a twelve rounder for the WBO I/C title versus former world champ Charles Brewer (40-10; 28KOs) of Philadelphia, PA.
