For the second time in 13 months, Jose Martin Castillo took care of Hideyasu Ishihara, retaining the WBA super flyweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision Sunday in the challenger's hometown.

Castillo (29-1), who won the belt by scoring an 11th-round TKO of Ishihara in nearby Gifu last May, outpointed the Japanese challenger in 12 hard-fought rounds.

Two judges awarded the fight to the Mexican champion, 116-111, and the third had it 116-112.

It marked the third straight successful title defense for the 28-year-old Castillo, who was coming off a unanimous decision of former flyweight champion Eric Morel in March.

Ishihara, who has yet to fight outside of Japan, fell to 16-4-1.
