BoxingScene.com has been advised that an agreement was reached "in principle" for WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs) to defend his title against former three division champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley (46-7-1, 39KOs) on May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Alvarez-Mosley will be the co-feature bout to the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Miguel Cotto pay-per-view.

Sources with knowledge of the details have advised BoxingScene that "both sides have agreed to the terms but nothing has been signed."

BoxingScene reported earlier that former champion Winky Wright was likely to appear on the Mayweather-Cotto card, returning from a two-year layoff to face undefeated middleweight Peter Quillin.
