Sauerland Event was the sole bidder at Monday´s purse bids in Rome for the ordered fight between ex-champ Alexander Dimitrenko (32-1, 21KOs) and unbeaten Kubrat Pulev (15-0, 7KOs). The EBU ordered both boxers to battle for their vacant heavyweight title.
Dimitrenko has been with Universum for his entire career, but now the two parties are involved in a contractual dispute. If he accepts the fight against Pulev, whether it takes place remains to be seen. He held the EBU belt until November of last year when he was forced to give up the title due to an injury.
Robert Helenius then beat Dereck Chisora for the vacant title but suffered a bad shoulder injury and had to relinquish the title.
Pulev, from Bulgaria, is promoted by Sauerland.
Sauerland has two weeks from today´s date to notify the parties of the date and site.
