Maidana is Willing To Return To 140 For The Right Fights

30 Jan 2012 19:55       hits 1907 Print version

Marcos "Chino" Maidana made his return to BoxingScene's official audio show, The Boxing Lab, and spoke about his upcoming fight with Devon Alexander and potential future opponents.

Maidana, along with Alexander, will be venturing into the welterweight division for the first time when they face each other on February 25th. Marcos was asked if the move to 147 would be permanent or if he'd be coming back down to 140.

"Well, I'm going to fight this fight. I feel comfortable. I'm eating good an we'll see what the result is and how I feel at this weight class" said the Argentina native.

A potential fight for Maidana should he choose to move back down to 140 is against Brandon Rios. When Rios was last on The Boxing Lab, he expressed that he'd love to fight Maidana in a fight he predicts would be a war.

Maidana was asked what his reaction was to Rios' comments.

"Yes, the truth is I hadn't heard anything until you just told me. I didn't know Brandon Rios said that. I also don't know much about Brandon Rios, but yes, I'd be willing to fight at any weight class. No problem" said Maidana.

Maidana also listed Timothy Bradley and Erik Morales as fights he'd welcome if he were to be victorious over Devon Alexander.

"If I beat Alexander it would be great and hopefully other opportunities would present themselves".
