German promoter Ahmet Oner, head of ARENA Boxing Promotions, has declared that “boxing in Germany is officially dead” and that he plans to pull out of promoting in Germany. Now recognized as an international promoter, Oner currently lives in Miami and Istanbul, Turkey. “I have worked with [Yuriorkis] Gamboa, one of the best and most spectacular boxers in the world, who had a super reception in the U.S. and with whom I earn a lot of money there. Odlanier Solis will come back and make his comeback in the United States. Selcuk Aydin can fight in America or Turkey. Germany does not interest me anymore.”
