Kelly Pavlik arrested on DUI charge, released on bond

22 Dec 2011 21:00       hits 4153 Print version

Former boxing champ Kelly Pavlik is free on bond after being arrested for a DUI late Wednesday night.

According to a police report, Pavlik allegedly hit a lamp post and telephone pole with a green ATV before driving home.

When officers went to Pavlik's home to investigate, Pavlik's friend Daniel Ferreri told police he had been the one on the ATV. However, Pavlik intervened and began yelling obscenities at the officers and demanding that they leave his property.

The officers suspected that Pavlik was intoxicated.

Ferreri eventually said that Pavlik was the one who drove the ATV. Ferreri was then arrested for obstruction of justice and after refusing a series of sobriety tests, Pavlik was arrested as well.

Pavlik was booked on charges of driving under the influence, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to maintain control of his vehicle.

Jail records indicate that Pavlik was released on bond around 2:00 a.m.

His arraignment is set for Friday in Canfield at the Mahoning County Municipal Court.
