Madison Square Garden, New York City - In a final IBF welterweight eliminator, Mike Jones (26-0, 19KOs) won a tough twelve round unanimous decision over a game Sebastian Lujan (38-6-2, 24KOs). The scores were 118-110, 119-109 and 119-109.

Jones is now in position to fight number one contender Randall Bailey for the vacant IBF title.

Right off the bat, Jones' considerable size advantage was clear. He was pushing Lujan around and moving him back to the ropes. Lujan got braver in the fourth, and started taking the fight to Jones. For some reason, Lujan was often coming forward while dropping both hands to his waist.

Lujan was taking punishment in the seventh, yet he continued to come forward and continued to throw punches. Things did not get easy for the next couple of rounds for Jones. Lujan was taking everything Jones threw, and never stopped coming with a high volume of punches being thrown. Jones had a good defense and blocked most of Lujan's shots. Jones wanted a knockout victory. With Lujan being able to take his shots, Jones used his superior boxing skills to win the rounds.
