Undefeated hometown hero and WBO #1 junior lightweight contender Adrien Broner (22-0, 18 KOs) scored a spectacular third round KO over #6 Martin Rodriguez (34-3-1, 18 KOs) to claim the vacant WBO junior lightweight world title on Saturday night at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati. Broner blasted Martin Rodriguez (34-3-1, 18 KOs) with a huge left hook, knocking Rodriguez to a sitting position half in, half out of the ring and referee Frank Garza reached the count of ten at 1:43 of the third round.

Broner worked hard to control the pace of the contest, counterpunching the on-rushing Rodriguez at every opportunity. He took his time, controlling the distance and pace, and in front of his hometown Cincinnati fans, was able to land the right uppercut on several occasions. About 30 seconds before the knockout, Broner found the mark with the right uppercut, causing a bloody nose and set into motion the events that led to the end of the fight.
