GL: We're just days away from your big rematch with Carlos Quintana, can you tell us how you're feeling and what we can expect to see on Saturday night? "You could expect to see the old Paul and me going back to do what I do best."
GL: What are the differences between this camp and your last one?
Paul Williams: "Basically nothing really. I've been working like I've always worked. I don't believe it was a weight issue for me, I just believe I had an off night. Everybody has an off night, it wasn't my night, but I'm going back to being my old self on Saturday night."
GL: If you're victorious will you continue to campaign at 147 or will you move up to 154?
PW: "I have to sit down with my people after the fight and figure out the strategy and stuff on whether or not we're going to move up or not. It depends on how we feel after this fight is over."
GL: Earlier you said you're going to go back to being your old self. Can you describe your old self?
PW: "I just didn't work, I was too laid back and too relaxed. I let him do everything and I wasn't imposing myself on him. It wasn't about what he did, it was about what I didn't do. I didn't gain his respect and I was too relaxed."
GL: Going into the first fight, people were calling you the most feared welterweight in the world. With your unusual height for 147, people considered you a stylistic nightmare for anybody, including Mr. Mayweather, obviously since then things have changed. Do you think you started to believe some of the press clippings going into that fight?
PW: "I just didn't do me. I don't care about the hype and all that stuff, I don't get into that. People are wondering why I wasn't ready, but it just wasn't my night."
GL: What did you think about the Margarito-Cintron rematch?
PW: "I thought Cintron would have come out and fought harder since he had something to prove, but Margarito came out and imposed his will on him."
GL: What does Paul Williams have to prove on Saturday night?
PW: "I got to prove that I'm going to go in there on Saturday, be at my best and get my belt back, that's all I'm out to prove."
GL: Do you believe recapturing the title will once again open up doors for the lucrative bouts you're looking for?
PW: "I'm confident that I'm getting my belt back, I don't know how other guys are going to feel, but I'm sure doors will open up again."
GL: Many people expected you to blow Quintana away the first time, is winning enough or do you feel you need to win impressively?
PW: "I'm going to win impressively on Saturday because I feel you have to beat the champion to take the belt from him. When I go in there, I'm going in there as the challenger to beat the champion. I've got a strong mind and it's focused on going in there to get my belt back."
GL: Closing thoughts?
PW: "I'm going to go out there and give it 100% and I'm going to put on a good show for my fans as I go in there to get my belt back."
