Interim WBC Flyweight Champion and fan favorite Jorge “El Travieso” Arce, spoke with Fightnews.com about his latest win over Adonis Rivas his up coming bout with Rosendo Alvarez and his plans for the future. Although Arce said he was honored to be WBC interim champion, he stated that he wanted the biggest fights he could get. Arce said he would love to get a title in the process but is more concerned about getting and winning the best fight for the fans on the biggest stage.
Jorge congratulations on your second victory over Adonis Rivas, how much different was this second victory?

It was better because after the first fight Adonis and his team didn’t think they got a fair decision with that cut and they wanted to do it again. This time I left no doubt in whom the winner was he gave a good fight but he quit himself on the stool he didn’t want anymore of me.

After the fight Rosendo Alvarez, who you’ll be facing on April 8th in Las Vegas, came up to the side of the ring and the two of you exchanged words and then more, what was said?

Rosendo and I have bad blood and he’s said some bad things about me. He talks a lot and has said he would knock me out. So I told Rosendo that he needed to man up and wear some pants and sign the contract. He said 'I’ll sign' and then slapped me like a girl so I hit him back; he is lucky I still had my gloves on. Girls slap, men punch and I’m going to remind him of that when I knock him out on April 8th.

WBC Flyweight Champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam just won his 13th title defense over Gilberto Keb Baas a few days ago. Do you want to fight Pongsaklek for the outright title?

The Thai (Pongsaklek) doesn’t want me; he doesn’t want to fight anybody. If he really wanted to earn his belt he would have taken the fight with me before. I don’t need to beat him, who is he? Who has he beat? I go for the biggest fights and he is not the biggest fight by his own doing

So if Ponsaklek does not want to make a fight against you happen, what is next for Jorge Arce?

First I am going to give the fans a great fight and knock out Rosendo Alvarez on April 8th. After Rosendo I would really like to fight Brian Viloria since I hear he plans to move up to 112lbs. I heard that he wanted to fight me and I think it would be a great fight I would love to fight Viloria on Erik Morales' card in September.

If that fight doesn’t materialize do you have any plans to move up in weight?

If Pongsaklek or Viloria don’t want to fight I would like to move up to 115lbs and fight either the champion Martin Castillo or Alexander Munoz. I think either of those fights would be a great fights that fans would love to see. I’m here to take the biggest fights and the most exiting fights out there, if the Thai (Pongsaklek) doesn’t want to take a real fight I’ll go fight a real champion at 115.
