Byrd blames promoter King for poor win

With some critics believing that he could - and perhaps should - be 0-3 in his last three bouts IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd desperately needed a convincing display against close friend and former sparring partner DaVarryl Williamson at the Events Center in Reno, Nevada. He didn't get one, instead he got a 115-113, 116-112, 116-112 points decision after another dreary 12 rounds which would have done nothing whatsoever for his already poor reputation amongst hardcore fans. read more ...

King Productions will co-promote the 12-round IBA heavyweight title bout from a site to be announced. Toney (68-4-2, 43 KOs), of Grand Rapids, Mich., will be making his first appearance since he fought for the WBA heavyweight crown on April 30, 2005, in New York. Toney easily outpointed defending champion John Ruiz to take the title, but the bout was later ruled a no-decision when Toney tested positive for a banned substance. read more ...
