German heavyweight contender Timo Hoffmann (32-3-1; 18KOs) will fight for the vacant European title in his next outing, after the European Boxing Union stripped former champ Luan Krasniqi. Krasniqi had been ordered to fight a rematch versus Hoffmann (the pair battled to a twelve-round draw five months ago) but asked for a delay. When the delay was not granted Krasniqi ignored the deadline - and the European governing body eventually vacated the title. Now Hoffmann will be matched versus former British ruler Michael Sprott (27-7; 14KOs) and Sauerland Event's CEO Chris Meyer told FightNews that he is currently negotiating in order to stage the fight on June 11 in Kempten, Germany. read more ...
