Biography
The fight for the title of Ukraine Champion Vladimir Virchys has held with Jury Elistratov. The comments of the trainer A.L. Lihter by results of this fight:
« The opponent of Vladimir in the fight for the title of Ukraine Champion was very skilled, experienced sportsman Jury Elistratov. This boxer has a great experience of international fights under his belt, it’s enough to recollect his bright win by Ko above Matew Elis, impressing fights with Valuev, Selesta, etc.
Before this very important for Vladimir show we have worked out the special plan of the fight – « work from the fast start ». He’s realized this plan exactly, and the result is a win by Ko on 34 second of the first round ».
The title of the Intercontinental Champion Vladimir has won on September, 21, 2002 in the fight with American boxer Thomas Williams, who had the record of 37 fights, from which 26 wins, besides, 17 of them were gained by Ko. The American boxer began from attack, but Virchys has drived him into a corner by powerful punches and knocked out on 60-th second of the first round.
A.L. Lihter considers Vladimir Virchys as a sportsman with a great potential and the good physical form, who is quick-witted and has very strict punch.
