WBA bantamweight champion Anselmo “Chemito” Moreno will make his fourth title defense against former WBA 122lb champion Mahyar Monshipour of France. The 29 year-old challenger forced the fight early on but the French champion managed to tame Zarate with some heavy uppercuts to take control of the fight. However Zarate was not to be denied and he floored Monshipour in the fourth round with a left hook and straight right hand. Mahyar Monshipour retained his WBA super bantamweight title Friday with a sixth-round win over Shigeru Nakazato. With 24 seconds left in the sixth, Monshipour knocked down Nakazato with a right cross to the chin, causing referee Raul Caiz to stop the fight.
