Guillermo Jones to finally defend?

Looks like WBA cruiserweight world champion Guillermo Jones has an opponent, date and location for the first defense of his title. Sources say Jones may be returning on February 27 in France against Valerie Brudov, the mandatory challenger. Apparently an agreement has been worked out between the parties involved and the WBA has called off a scheduled purse bid. Austin and Jones score upset wins in Cleveland

In a WBA cruiserweight title eliminator Jones scored a controversial fourth round stoppage win against former WBC cruiserweight king Wayne Braithwaite. Jones controlled the opening round by out-punching the naturally bigger Braithwaite with solid right hands. Jones was not as effective in the second round as Braithwaite increased the pace to finish strongly and also adopted the same tactics to win the third session. read more ...
